The day started with the Queen and her attendants gathering at the Guide Hut at Wallington Green,
along with the Carshalton Cheerleaders, The Whitgift School Band and two ponies.
At 12.30 pm her entourage set off from the Guide Hut and proceeded up Manor Road led by the
Whitgift Band, and their mascot, an alsation dog. It took 20 minutes to reach the Town Hall
where Katy Ford was then crowned by her Aunt Debbie, and was presented with her medal by Beryl.
The crowd that had gathered to watch the crowning, were entertained first by the Carshalton
Cheerleaders, and then the Whitgift Band. The Queen and her attendants also performed a short
May Pole dance. Whilst this was all going on, Katy's family handed round refreshments that had
been kindly donated by Asda.
The group then set off down Woodcote Road back to the Guide Hut for a much earned party.
