The day started at 1.30 with a picnic whilst Caroline Mead and her attendants lined up with all the
others May Queens from across London, ready for the parade through the streets of Hayes.
At 2pm the procession set off led by the Whitgift School Marching Band, with the
London May Queen, Louise Courtney, next and the rest of the May Queens following on behind.
The band from TS Endeavour brought up the rear.
Half way round the route, the London May Queen stopped at the church to be crowned, before re-joining
the back of the procession. Everyone then returned to Hayes Common for the presentation of gifts, the
scattering of flowers and country dancing.
A light shower of rain did not spoil the day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
