The Crowning 2003

The day started with the Queen and her attendants gathering at the Guide Hut at Wallington Green, along with Bandon Hill School Choir, 1st Wallington Scout Band and West Hill Morris.

At 12.30 pm the group set off from the Guide Hut and proceeded up Manor Road led by the 1st Wallington Scout Band. It took 20 minutes to reach the Town Hall where Caroline was crowned by Jennifer Miller, the Millennium May Queen, and she was then presented with her medal by Beryl. After this Caroline made she May Queen speech, which you can read by clicking here

The crowd that had gathered to watch the crowning, were entertained first by the Bandon Hill School Choir, who gave an excellent rendition of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Any Dream Will Do from the musical Joseph. This was followed by a number of dances by the West Hill Morris.

The group then set off down Woodcote Road back to the Guide Hut for a much earned party.
